When his sister asks him to look after her son, a radio journalist embarks on a cross-country trip with his energetic nephew to show him life away from Los Angeles.

C’Mon C’Mon stars Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny, who is working on a project that involves recording children’s views of life and their world. His sister Viv (Gaby Hoffmann) suddenly has to leave her son Jesse (Woody Norman) with Johnny who is about to travel to New York. Johnny decides he can take Jesse with him, and on that trip he learns what guardianship, love, and his fears or excitement of fatherhood could be.

One can easily fall in love with this movie from its earnestness to its wonderful story. ‘C’mon C’mon’ is a story about real human connection that is heartfelt from start to finish. The chemistry between Joaquin Phoenix and Woody Norman is excellent. Gabby Hoffman is giving one of their best performances and deserves to be nominated for best supporting actress.

‘C’mon C’mon’ is a slower burn. This is a philosophical story as well as a relationship one that is hard to pitch to someone, but still is one I would strongly recommend. I was sold when I overheard someone calling this the complete opposite of ‘Joker’. This is for sure going to have nominations for screenplay, best actor and possibly even best picture. Check it out whenever you get a chance!

Rating: 9 out of 10.
